A friend asked me to put together a mix of songs for his wedding party in a couple of months. This is something of a dream task for me because it means I get to listen to lots of cheesy songs and not feel “guilty” about it.
As part of this research I came across this track from American singer Cyndi Lauper and was reminded about what a great pop song it is.

I heard this track, by 80’s icon Rick Springfield on the radio the other day and I couldn’t stop humming it afterwards. I am unsure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Pretty special video here.

I have been on a real 90’s kick since realising I am part of the Wonderwall Generation and posting the Oasis classic Champagne Supernova a couple of weeks ago.
This is a cheesy hip hop classic of the era. I love the band name, just the wrong side of preposterous which is just the right side of perfect for a Hip Hop group. Also, the intro here is just ridiculous but great at the same time. All my guilty pleasures seem to have a healthy does of excess about them!

I have been wanting to post this since I revisited JX, another classic of the genre (mid-90’s cheesy, up tempo dance). If these two don’t make you want to jump around the room, I’m not I will be able to help you. They have the added lustre for me of being reminders of some happy and carefree schooldays.
