Michael Jackson – Man in the mirror (Hed Kandi remix) (GPF)

This is a bit cheesy but I kind of like it’s energy. The reason I was reminded of it was that I shared a enjoyable couple of pints with a fellow blogger tonight. They mentioned an entry they had posted “revealing” the fact that Michael Jackson is in fact Nani’s father. Outlandish and humourous stuff!

I’m starting with the man in mirror…

Tinariwen – Tenere Taqqim Tossam (Four Tet Remix) (NAT)

Tinariwen are a group of Berber musicians from Northern Mali (which I have been reading is a pretty fractious place at present). This is a remix by London DJ Four Tet, who I posted earlier in the year. It is taken from the 2011 release Tassili.

I don’t think I could have conceived a scenario where I would be listening to music like this before starting off my blogging journey. One of the great things about it is that it has taken me to so many places I could never have imagined going to.

Cat Power* – Cherokee (Nicolas Jaar remix)

Cat Power is an American singer-songwriter who makes music that is both minimal and sometimes melancholic. I had heard lots of good reports about her but nothing had really moved me too strongly before now.
However, I really like this. It is a remix by American-Chilean DJ Nicolas Jaar and is taken from Cat Power’s upcoming album Sun. It is mellow yet full of gravity, it has been soothing my racing mind this week as I continue to adjust to my new surroundings.

Peter, Bjorn and John* – Let’s call it off (Girl Talk remix)

I stumbled across this today on Youtube and it’s relentless energy is a perfect reflection of both my week and feelings today as London was bathed in sunshine.

Look out for a guest post from resident dancehead Dom tomorrow. I’ll check back in on Monday, also look out for my best of 2012 so far list. I am just applying the finishing touches.
