I haven’t posted much current music recently so it is good to highlight something fresh. This lo-fi, dreamy number has been stuck in my head all day. I also think Best Coast is an excellent name, particularly given their Californian origins. I really like their sound too, like a lazy, hazy day on the beach spent chilling like a villain.

Fitz and The Tantrums – MoneyGrabber
I heard these guys on the radio today, and liked their sound. It is like a modern take on Stax and Motown, which is a good place to start. Additionally, I think the Fitz and The Tantrums is a great name.
Japandroids – Young hearts spark fire
This is has a raucous, raw energy that makes it youthful and arresting. It is is a little more jarring and angular than the usual type of thing that I go for. However, for some reason I couldn’t get enough of it today. Along with the energy, the lyrics also resonated with me; feeling like I am not as young as I once was and trying to work out what that means.
Additionally, I think Japandroids is a pretty great name.

Delorean – Stay Close
This is another uplifting dance tune by a band with a name that is linked to my home land. Perhaps there is a trend to be started? Can anyone suggest some Belfast-centric named bands? I will put my mind to it.
The track is a euphoric slice of summer and it sped my journey home this evening. I also love the fact it was released on Mushroom Pillow Records.
