Emilíana Torrini* – Speed Of Dark | (NAT)
I discovered Icelandic singer Emilíana Torrini while listening to Tom Ravenscroft’s excellent BBC 6music show over the weekend.
This track is taken from her recently released album Tookah and has that classic Scandinavian-pop sound; One part cool and reserved, one part hypnotic and darkly memerising.

dÉbruit* – Nigera What? | (NAT)
I stumbled across this track while meandering through YouTube links earlier in the week. It is taken from Parisian DJ (or “Synth Magician” accoring to RA) dÉbruit’s 2009 EP Spatio Temporel.
I really love it’s contemporary take on that classic world music sound.

Boho Dancer* – Good Vibrations | (NAT)
This is a track from Danish band Boho Dancer, who I discovered via the Guardian Music Blog’s new band of the day feature.
I find the rather windswept video to be fitting for the track, which mercifully isn’t a Beach Boys cover.

Peter, Bjorn & John – Young Folks | (GPF)
I heard this for the first time in ages a couple of days ago. I grew really tired of it after hearing it way too much after it’s 2006 release. But hearing it afresh I remembered it’s just a great pop tune with classic Scandinavian sound.
It is taken from Peter, Bjorn and John’s 2006 album Writer’s Block.

Jóhann Jóhannsson – Freedom From Want And Fear
This is taken from Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson’s 2011 album The Miner’s Hymns. Just like The Cause Of Labour Is The Hope Of The World which I posted and fell in love with a couple of years ago this is full of gravity and power.
