I heard this yesterday for the first time in what seems like a lifetime. It still sounds pretty fresh. I must revisit Play at some stage. It is one of the most memorable albums (and sleeves) of my formative years.
Moby – Play:
Another track from Toro Y Moi’s recently released Anything in Return album. Perfect Sunday listening – chilled and hypnotic.
Toro Y Moi:
Infectious remix of Swedish singer Lykke Li. My buddy Dom who has his finger on the dance music sent this to me a couple of weeks ago and I haven’t been able to shake it since.

A silky smooth beat matched with some impressive lyrical dexterity from Detroit hip hop quartet Clear Soul Forces.

The enigmatic Phil Spector is on my mind today after reading this interesting piece in The Daily Beast about his impending final appeal against his conviction for murder. Also, he is just about to be portrayed by Al Pacino in a movie. This is one I definitely intend to watch!
It doesn’t much more classic Spector than The Ronettes. It doesn’t get much more classic than The Ronettes full stop.
The Ronettes and Phil Spector:
This track, by Hip Hop duo The Underachievers who are from Flatbush Avenue, New York, is one of several rap tunes that has excited me recently. Look out for more in the coming days. It is taken from Indigoism which they recently released on Brainfeeder records.
An added bonus here is the video, which I really like. It’s a very simple, classic motif featuring some classic urban landscapes.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros playing a live version of Man on Fire from their 2012 record Here. It is taken from the Bloody Sunday Sessions which is a New Orleans based series of musical performances.
