Jessie Ware – Sweet Talk

I have developed a real soft spot this year for British singer (and modern day Sade sound-a-like) Jessie Ware. Running, which I posted in January has been one of my favourite tracks of 2013 so far.

Both tracks are taken from Devotion, which was released last summer.

Luísa Maita* – Lero Lero | (NAT)

The biggest musical revelation of my meandering blogging journey over the past couple of years has definitely been world music. However, this has largely focused on African music.I have therefore put some effort into exploring other musical destinations. This is how I came across Brazilian singer Luísa Maita on the excellent Aurgasm blog. I really enjoyed the wistful quality here.

Them – Don’t look back

CjK Guest Post – Summer Cover #7

Morrison had first recorded the title song, “Don’t Look Back” on his debut album as the front man for the Northern Irish band Them.

“Don’t Look Back ” is a song written by Blues singer-songwriter John Lee Hooker and released as a single in 1964. Morrison and Hooker also dueted it on a subsequent recording. Perhaps don’t look back is sentiment we should all adopt.

Tape Waves* – Ready Now

This is a first for the blog in that these guys submitted this track to me themselves. In case anyone else out there wants to do the same the email address is 365daysinmusic@gmail.com

Tape Waves are from Charleston, South Carolina and I really like their Lo-Fi, washed out sound. It reminds me a little of blog favourites Best Coast.
